Collings Guitars are made in Austin, Texas. Luthier Bill Collings is known to make some of the world's best acoustic guitars and are played by well-known artists, like Lyle Lovett, Jerry Jeff Walker, Tim Sparks, Phil Heywood and Pete Huntlinger. Collings Guitars are hand made with premium woods. We especially like their adirondack spruce, ultra fine Honduran mahogany, and top quality Indian rosewood. As a matter of fact we like pretty much everything about Collings. Collings guitars set the standards in quality of workmanship among all builders and no guitars are louder or cut through other instruments better than a Collings and especially D1's and D1A's. Collings guitars are known for there brilliance and also that they sound the best when you are out about 10 feet in front of one and that makes them a fine live performance guitar. They are built with 3 piece steel reinforcing rods in the neck and a bolt on neck and it these inovations which together with a precision give Collings their unique voice. The neck stiffness also makes these guitars stay in tune no matter how hard you hit them but you can also just touch them and tone quality, volume and sustain will surprise you. Bill from what I hear thinks guitars can only be one of two ways: perfect or wrong and god help you if work for Bill and think otherwise. As Bob Taylor says, "You can't buy a better guitar than a Collings." And as we say, "Bob's right, as usual".
