Paul Beard has set the precedent in research and development by creating a resonator guitar with tonal precision and the highest quality workmanship and materials. Beard has an engineering background that is reflected in the meticulous detail of the cones, spiders and biscuits throughout all of his designs. For example, the truss rod covers on Beard guitars are installed with machine screws utilizing tapped-in threaded inserts instead of the wood screws commonly found on all other guitar makes.

Every instrument includes Beard's exclusive coverplate screw inserts, which eliminate the common problem of stripped coverplate screw holes. A higher palm rest is incorporated on the coverplate for enhanced playability and ultimate tone. In order to ensure the highest quality possible, Beard Guitars manufactures their own tailpieces (with wider string spacing), soundscreens, and resonator coverplates of solid brass. These components are subsequently plated with tarnish-resistant industrial chrome and they are meticulously hand polished. A precisely machined resonator system with a spun aluminum cone is hand- fitted to each instrument. And to complete each instrument, the finest quality German tuning machines and a strap security lock system are added.
