This instrument is a brand new Collings 12 fret guitar with stunning volume, a warm "real" bass, great sustain and great clarity. This guitar is very loud for a OO and can stay with much larger guitars in terms of "headroom". It is warm, complex, balanced and resonant with a bass that will surprise you and it also sings up the neck. The shorter OO scale also makes for a loose feel and mellower highs. In short,
this is a world class OO.
We frequently order small body instruments with Engelmann tops which is slightly less stiff than Sitka and therefore has a more harmonically complex, clear voice and a livelier, looser feel. The Collings OO2H is one of the instruments that I love as a standard instrument and which enchants me when we have an Engelmann top version.
