This is a simple but elegant looking custom OO with some of the most beautiful traditional Honduran mahogany top, back and sides and a fabulous full body burst. The guitar is voiced for fingerstyle playing. Aesthetically, the clean and simple lines coupled with the mahogany top and full body burst makes this instrument a rare beauty with a dark mahogany top voice.
It has a sweet voice, with great volume, bigtime clear bass and it rings up the neck like most Collings guitars.
This OO is as loud as a D-18 with "real bass," and like a D-18 it likes a flat pick. Fingerstyle however is what we had in mind when we spec'd it out and It is easily driven with a fast playing feel for fingerstyle. It has Collings clarity, great sustain and nice midrange balance, but with "thickness" and rich harmonics courtesy of the mahogany top.
