The guitar that I personally had the longest before selling it and regretting it was a Santa Cruz Tony Rice and it was one I picked out from among a bunch of great Santa Cruz guitars so I thought it was special and kept it for 15 years before I succumbed to tempation. Usually 6 months is all I can manage here in guitar heaven. This new Tony Rice is a reincarnation of his own fine instrument but built with hot hide glue. We have ordered a few Adirondack braced Sitka instruments as special orders for customers and were very impressed with the results so we added them to this instrument and the result was fabulous when combined with all hot hide glue construction.
The Tony Rice is a Dreadnaught that ranks with the best, the hide glue ones are the best of the best and adding the Adi braces made it better yet. It is sweet, rich, loud, dark and balanced with a loose, fast, high performance feel. It was designed for Tony Rice's awesome flatpicking but I have always felt that good ones are about as versatile a guitar as Santa Cruz makes and I used it mainly for fingerstyle.
