This instrument is a custom Collings C-10. It has a dark sunburst, Ivoroid bindings and firestripe pick guard making it look very much like the original prewar Gibson L-00's. It is also built lighter than they used to be which sweetens the voice and makes it easy to drive with a light touch. But it is a Collings and you can beat on it if the spirit moves you.
This C-10 is loud, clear and balanced with great sustain and a rich bass with no thumpiness like you hear in many Gibson L-OO's and clones plus great ring and power in the trebles up the neck. It develops a shimmer almost like vibrato when you let it ring out.
I have always liked C10's and C10 Deluxes and have had 2 of each of them myself and I would rate this C10 is the best so far.
The Sunburst is artful and I have always thought Collings and Bourgeois sunbursts are to die for.
