This is as close to a 1930's L-OO that you will ever find in a new guitar. As always with Walker guitars, It sets the standard for workmanship and its an exceptional instrument. Here is how John Walker describes what he did:
"I have never done this before. I have attempted to recreate a vintage guitar, at least a
build as close as practical to the specs and materials of the original. I intended this to be a learning experience, and it was. The resulting guitar was very close to the original in appearance and surprisingly (to me) in tone."
The body depth at the neck is 3 7/16” and at the tail block end 4 5/16”. The top bracing is
all 1/4" non-scalloped and adhered with hide glue. The back braces are also all 1/4" and the guitar is built with all hot hide glue. Cloth side staves like the original were used on this one.
The neck is a vintage V shape, .920” at the first fret and 1.060” at the 9th fret. The bridge string spacing is 2 5/16” and so the fretboard at the 14th fret is correspondingly wider.
The fret board is Honduran rosewood and the bridge is Madagascar rosewood.
The tuners are Nickel Waverlys with Ivoroid buttons.
This guitar is finished with a very thin nitro-cellulose lacquer sunburst."
