This Collings OM-2H Cutaway has Indian rosewood back and sides and an Engelmann spruce top. It's built light for fingerstyle but it's richness makes it a nice flatpicking and strumming guitar as well. Collings is getting a big, sweet but clear vintage voice from these light built OM's. They are loud and balanced and don't sound like small bodies at all. In addition, I've always thought that OM's are the most comfortable to play and most versatile of all the guitar shapes.
Like all Collings, they have a crisp, loud, dynamic voice with a long fundamental tone (before breaking into warm resonances), which makes it easy for you and your audience to hear the detail in your playing. For the fingerstyle player, being able to clearly hear your thumb and having dominant treble string volume is the secret. You can hear your alternating bass line because of the volume and clarity that this instrument has. These lightened guitars have a sweeter voice and a looser feel and are dynamite instruments by anyone's measure.
