This fine OM is a terrific instrument with one of the best voices I have heard in an OM from any builder. We have been working with Kennedy in tweaking each successive instrument and this process has resulted in a responsive guitar with an articulate and three-dimensional voice which is ideal for fingerstyle. The workmanship is first rate and the guitar is built with all master grade woods.
This instrument is loud, rrrrrich, has off-the-charts dynamics, and produces lovely overtones.
Kennedy uses carbon fiber bars under the fret board, which serve to stiffen the neck. This is similar to what Collings does with their spring steel bars. If you can stiffen part of the guitar's "structural system" you can achieve greater projection. If that stiffening involves the sound chamber or body of the instrument, there is a risk of the timbre becoming "nasal". But, if you can stiffen the system without stiffening the sound chamber or body of the guitar, you can get increased projection and clarity without sacrificing the natural richness of tone that the body imparts. Kennedy guitars - like Collings, Bourgeois, Huss & Dalton, and Taylor - have a stiff bolt -on neck joint system which also contributes to clarity and projection.
