The Bart Reiter Fretless Standard is made with evident world class craftsmanship that you can't touch for the money with any other instrument. Bart is one of the great characters in our business and does things his way which fortunately is exactly and precisely right. Workmanship on these is flawless and if feels like quality in your hands.
This is loud, complex, silky to play with a fine, haunting, complex voice and it excels at Old Time picking and frailing. Fretless makes for an altogether different voice, about as "down home" as you can get. Fine traditional open back banjos have a sweeter and more complex voice than resonators and they aren't quite as loud so practicing isn't as hard on your significant other and your dog won't howl as much. They have a very beautiful, ethereal and haunting voice when played slowly and if allowed to ring out, can bring tears to your eyes, but if you dig in, they are still plenty loud.
