This is one of the best instruments at any price that we have had in our store (and we have been selling fine guitars since 1959). The Tippin Crescendo is a grand concert shape guitar by Bill Tippin. I think Tippin is one of the finest luthiers in the world, and this instrument is probably the best one so far.
This instrument has the highest grade, straight grained, bear clawed, quartersawed Brazilian rosewood with a moon harvested alpine spruce top. Moon Harvested Spruce is spruce that was harvested and handled during the last quarter of the waning moon in the winter after the qrowing period of the tree has stopped. Moonwood is better because the sap is down and therefore the wood has less resinous material left in the wood cells when dried. (I always though it had something to do with lumber theft). But this it turns out is a traditional practice in the musical instrument lumber industry that dates back for many centuries. Stradivarius was well aware of "moonwood" and believed that it was stiffer and more resistant to moisture changes than non-moonwood, but what did he know?
Be that as it may, it is a visual work of art, subtle, elegant with the best woods available. However, its lovely aesthics are nothing compared to its fabulous voice and high performance feel. This instrument has a very powerful, rich and focused bass, great balance and great volume. The Bravado also has great complexity and clarity up the neck. As powerful and phenomenally rich as the bass is, the midrange and trebles stand out putting it with the finest guitars we have come across....ever. Even as a new instrument, this guitar has a pulsing "reverb" quality to its voice that most guitars do not develop if they are played for 50 years.
