Martin Simpson In Concert

E-mail this product to a friend

English acoustic guitar virtuoso Martin Simpson has come a long way from his roots in Lincolnshire, Northern England. He played his first paid gig at 14, became professional at seventeen, and shortly after found himself in the vanguard on the British folk-rock movement. He has performed with such musical luminaries as Richard Thompson, Steeleye Span and Fairfort Convention, as well as working in the Albion Band and 10 years as collaborator and accompanist with June Tabor. More recently he has shared stages with Steve Miller and David Lindley, as well as recording with Ronnie Earl, Bob Brozman, Ed Gerhard and the Chinese pipe player Wu-Man. He continues to record and tour both solo and with his wife Jessica Ruby Simpson. Martin's dynamic solo guitar performances are legendary, showcasing his mastery of the acoustic guitar as well as his far- ranging repertoire. He possesses a seemingly effortless command of multiple complex styles including powerful percussive techniques, unique frailing and fingerstyles, and ground-breaking use of open tunings. This dvd presents a solo concert recorded at the Freight & Salvage in Berkeley, California.
