This instrument is an all mahogany OM with an artful full body burst. It is a standard scale length guitar built with a lighter back, sides and top. Mahogany topped guitars have a darker, sweeter voice than spruce topped guitars. The top is specifically voiced for fingerstyle. Lightening the instrument makes it a little less structurally stiff and makes the guitar sound much more open. In addition, lightening them up a little makes the already sweet mahogany top voice even sweeter, darker, more complex and more easily driven but it still has the Collings "sparkle" that has made Collings guitars great. These are very versatile guitars and although built as fingerstyle style guitar, they also excel as a small flatpicking guitar.
The full body burst with the tortoise shell binding is subtle and elegantly done and it makes this instrument a show stopping work of art.
