This fine instrument is a Honduras mahogany/Sitka spruce and is Goodall's least expensive instrument. I often tell people that the single most important factor in what guitars sound like is who is making the guitar and that since God never made two trees the same, sometimes you get something atypical and wonderful.
This Aloha is one of these rare instruments and if you were to price it according to its tonal qualities, it would cost twice as much as it does. I always seem to like mahogany Goodall guitars as well as anything they make even the guitars with the fancy exotic woods. First of all, it has nice "tuba" type bass with focus, bark and complexity. It has a balanced "cello" type midrange and its trebles sing like a violin up the neck. Overall, the voice is more sweet and dark than you would expect from a mahogany Goodall but it has the projection and complexity that everyone loves Goodalls for. So if you want to beat the system and get a mercedes for the price of a Volkswagen this is the instrument for you.
