A few months ago I was just sort of talking shop with Dana Bourgeois about short scales and we agreed that you can't just shorten the scale length on a good regular scale guitar and be assured of a good outcome, rather you have to lighten up the top a little to keep them lively and harmonic. Well, I think Dana went and did just that with his new slope. It's just a great guitar, silky smooth and easy to play, loud, resonant and harmonically complex.
I also think a guitar like this, although a great flatpicking guitar is great for fingerpicking and strumming. I think it is warm and sweeter than Dana's powerful standard scale instruments.
