The custom Collings OM-3 is loud and balanced with a high performance, feel. This instrument is a standard scale length but is built lighter with a smaller bridge and it still makes bending strings a one finger affair and bar chords are comparatively effortless. It has a big bass with continuously balanced tone and volume up the neck, great clarity, brilliance and focus but still a smoky, woody warmth in the bass. It has a little warmer tone with a little more complexity than an OM1 short scale (one of the best choices for country blues fingerstyle). The German top, reduced footprint bridge and lighter body build give these a hauntingly beautiful and complex voice when you let a note or chord ring out and if you let it ring out a little longer, a shimmer almost like vibrato. You still have the fundamental initial brilliance of voice Collings is famous for. These are awsome guitars and ridiculously beautiful, too.
